Summer research opportunities

 

Undergraduate/College Summer Research (Wayne State Students Only)

 

The Office of Biomedical Graduate Programs is delighted to announce it is accepting applications for SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience).  Wayne State University undergrad students ONLY will be considered. 

Not sure where you're headed? Then you're in the right place! SURE provides valuable hands-on research experience to undergraduate students who are interested in exploring their career options in the field of biomedical science. Students and mentors are matched based on a student's educational and laboratory experience, as well as shared interests.

SURE is a 10- to 12-week experience with a flexible starting date to accommodate your academic schedule. While no housing allowance is provided, a $3,000 stipend is awarded to successful applicants who are rising sophomores, juniors or seniors and U.S. citizens.

The program provides dynamic research experience in:

  • Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences (OVAS)
  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
  • Cancer Biology
  • Immunology and Microbiology
  • Molecular Genetics and Genomics
  • Pathology
  • Pharmacology
  • Physiology
  • Translational Neuroscience

Application Instructions
Documents must be sent electronically, preferably as a PDF, to gradprogs@med.wayne.edu.  Please complete the SURE application form.

Statement of Purpose/Biographical Sketch: 
Write a statement outlining your reasons for wishing to participate in the research program, your research objectives and your career goals. Include a short biographical sketch as part of the statement.

Letters of Reference: 
Two letters of reference are to be submitted directly to the email above by their authors. If you have had previous research experience, one or both letters should come from your research adviser(s). One letter must be from a faculty member.

Deadline for Applying: 
Completed applications, including all required documents, are due by March 15, 2024. Early applications are STRONGLY encouraged.
