Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
APPLICATIONS to our program are now closed. We have received over 100 applications and only accept one fourth of that number to our program. We appreciate your enthusiasm for our program, however, applying at this late date would be a waste of your time as we have more than enough applicants to choose from. Please keep us in mind for next year and also remember to apply early.
Not sure where you’re headed? Then you’re in the right place! SURE (Summer Undergraduate Research Experience) provides valuable hands-on research experience to undergraduate students who are interested in exploring their career options in the field of biomedical science. Students and mentors are matched based on a student’s educational and laboratory experience, as well as shared interests.
SURE is a 10- to 12-week experience with a flexible starting date to accommodate your academic schedule. While no housing allowance is provided, a $2,500 stipend is awarded to successful applicants who are rising sophomores, juniors or seniors with U.S. citizenship and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The program provides a dynamic look into careers available in the field, including:
• Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
• Cancer Biology
• Immunology and Microbiology
• Molecular Medicine and Genetics
• Translational Neuroscience
Please type or NEATLY PRINT your application and personal statements. It is extremely important that all information submitted be legible so your application can be properly processed.
Statement of Purpose:
On a separate piece of paper, please write a statement outlining your reasons for wishing to participate in the research program, research objectives, and career goals.
Please include a short biographical sketch of yourself, which should list your interests and scientific achievements. This can include student association memberships and high school activities, volunteer work etc.
Letters of Reference:
Two letters of reference are to be submitted directly to the address below by their authors. If you have had previous research experience, one or both letters should come from your research adviser(s). One letter must be from a faculty member.

Deadline for Applying:
Completed applications are due on Friday, March 20, 2015. Early applications are STRONGLY encouraged.
