As an undergraduate, I had waffled numerous times on whether I wanted to apply to graduate or medical school. However, rather than choose between the two, I decided to do both. Being an MD/PhD student offers me the best of both worlds. Not only do I get to work on advancing the base of knowledge for my respective field, but I also get to see the clinical impact of the ideas with which I have worked.
