I became interested in the field of Toxicology during an undergraduate research experience. During that time, I learned that there would be a growing demand for toxicologists in government, industry and pharmaceutical research. After graduating from undergrad, I chose to take a job at a biotech company, but soon realized that I would not be able to contribute to the field of science the way I wanted to with just a Bachelor’s degree. Wayne State University was an obvious choice to pursue my Ph.D. due to its excellent faculty, location and reputation in the field of science and medicine. My graduate school experience has developed my ability to critically read and write scientific manuscripts, interpret experimental data, and present research in a scientific forum. All of these skills will allow me to lead and significantly contribute to the field of science.
